World Cancer Day

The fear when people hear “The Big C” word can immediately stop all rational thought, clarity and commonsense. Fear stalls people’s ability to think – like a rabbit being caught in the headlights.

What can make a difference though is a better acknowledgement of what is actually the truth about cancer. Information gives you power, not more concerns. Without information you can’t make informed decisions – you are simply a victim.

There are around 367,000 new cancer cases in the UK every year, that’s around 1,000 every day.

Breast, prostate, lung and bowel cancers together accounted for more than half (53%) of all new cancer cases in the UK.

Cancer accounts for more than a quarter (28%) of all deaths in the UK.

Half (50%) of people diagnosed with cancer in England and Wales survive their disease for ten years or more.

So what does that mean when you see your Osteopath?

– We are trained to look out for a wide variety of cancers from examination, and also understanding the symptoms that tumours can cause.

– We are also able to appropriately refer clients on to the appropriate channels.

– We can give a listening ear, an empathetic thinking brain and understanding fingers that can “see” well beyond the surface.

Gayle can also signpost you to more natural health options and food supplements at various stages through your health journey which you may not be aware of at all when going through the orthodox routes.

Getting informed about a diagnosis of cancer – and taking the appropriate actions (even if its upsetting) WILL make a huge difference to the outcome and also your mental and emotional health through this. Ask lots of questions, don’t just accept the first “solution” that is offered. Being actively involved will help to keep you feeling in charge of the treatment and your life.

Gayle can help you to understand what you have been told from tests and procedures to treatments. Often the consultants don’t have much time for this and it can leave you more scared and confused.

If you want to chat further or have a question – make an appointment with Gayle. She is here to help. #OsteopathyWorks
