Volunteers Week – 1st-7th June

#VolunteersWeek runs from the 1st to the 7th June 2019 and highlights the many opportunities for people in the local area or even nationally.

It is a great way to get involved in your local community, meet people, enhance your own sense of life purpose and mentally stimulates you too. Often, you get more back than you give as well!

I thought I would inspire you with just one of the things that I do almost every day – #LitterPick!

Here in the UK, it is Volunteer’s Week.

Hashtag #Volunteer’s Week from the 1st to the 7th of June, 2019.

I just want to tell you a little bit about some of the things that I do to volunteer. I run a small group called the “Sidlesham Litter Pickers” for my village (You can find us on Facebook and Nextdoor.co.uk) and we go round and pick up the litter from the streets, in my case the fields and sometimes beaches locally, to keep our environment clean, wildlife safe and actually much more enjoyable for everybody that passes through.

Sidlesham is the largest parish in West Sussex and it has a large network of lanes and byroads running through it, across it and what have here. So, there are a lot of roads for the land area that is involved. I have noticed in the last couple of months that the amount of litter I have been picking off the roads lately has reduced which is fabulous news so I am hoping that by climate rebellion propaganda and litter picking campaigns that we have here have been finally paying off.

But last year, I picked up six hundred kilos of litter in my local area which is just horrific, just a horrific amount of litter!

So, I want to ask you what you did as a volunteer?

You might go and help out visiting a neighbour, you might go working in one of the local charity shops, you might do all sorts of things but do let me know.

Post a comment below. 😉

I will be fascinated to find out what you do and if this blog inspires you then that is fantastic.

So, that is what I do. What do you do?
